When Ange Postecoglou arrived as the manager of Celtic, many people believed that it would take the club two to three years just to compete with the Rangers for the title again. The Hoops went on to win the league that very season, against all odds and expectations. And now, they have repeated the trick and in even more convincing fashion.
It would be a bit of an understatement to say that Postecoglou has transformed this Celtic side. He has taken a team that had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league, and guided them to a double last season and they are in the running for a treble this time around.
That is a very impressive achievement to say the least. And it is the Rangers, who now appear to be searching for all the answers.
Chris Sutton must be enjoying his time at the moment for sure. Following Celtic’s title win, he paid tribute to Postecoglou while taking a cheeky dig at Michael Beale at the same time. He tweeted out:
‘King Ange’ – Celtic hero sends brilliant message after title win
It is safe to say that Postecoglou has proven himself as a brilliant manager during his time at Celtic Park. There were no lack of doubters when he arrived at the club, with many expecting him to be gone by Christmas.
It is the doubters who have gone though. And it is very hard to find them these days. On the other hard, Postecoglou is a fan favourite and has won four trophies at Celtic already.
Of course, a fifth one will be up for grabs next month. Celtic will be taking on Inverness CT in the final of the Scottish Cup. And they will be competing for a treble on that day at Hampden Park.
