Inverness CT handed problem for Scottish Cup final vs Celtic
Celtic managed to get the better of the Rangers last weekend to book their place in the Scottish Cup final. There, they will face an unlikely opponent in the form of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. It goes without saying that the Championship club have done a remarkable job to reach this stage of the competition.
In the final, they will be facing their toughest competition in a long time in the form of Celtic. Ange Postecoglou’s side appear to be on the verge of a treble. They have also won the League Cup and are a win away from clinching the Premiership for the second straight year.
And it is not just the task of facing a dominant Celtic side that awaits Inverness CT. They have been handed another major problem as well.
Their league season has come to an end. As a result, they will not take part in another competitive game between now and the Scottish Cup final against Celtic next month. Thus, it is not hard to understand why that would be a major problem for Inverness CT.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Inverness CT manager Billy Dodds told the club’s YouTube channel:
"“I’ve spoken with my staff about it. We’ll be taking some time off. We have a month to go and we’ve had a hard season. So we have got to peak them again.“We will be starting to get back to work in a week’s time. We’ll turn the legs, try to get a couple of games and prepare for the final in the right manner.“Not just turn up. Because we need to start better and we certainly have to start better against Celtic. We have to be in Celtic’s faces and get close to them, not be thinking we are going to coast through the game and have a nice day out at Hampden. That’ll certainly not be the case.”"
Going into a match of this magnitude and an opponent of Celtic’s calibre, you always want to have form and momentum on your side. But in the case of Inverness CT, they will not have that chance as their league campaign is now over this season.
On the other hand, Celtic will continue to play competitive football. Their last league game of the season is against Aberdeen, which will be played just a week before the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT. As a result, Postecoglou’s side should not have any issue maintaining their match sharpness.
