Cameron Carter-Vickers enjoyed a tremendous campaign and has arguably been Celtic’s best player. Unfortunately, the American defender’s season has come to an end, as he has had to undergo surgery. It is remarkable that he was performing at such a high level while carrying an injury for quite a while.

It is now time for Carter-Vickers to recover though. And while he might not be back this season, Celtic fans will be hoping to see him on the pitch as soon as possible.

Some rumours had broken out though that he was going to be out for a while. And that Carter-Vickers could end up missing the start of the next campaign.

Now though, it does not look like that will be the case and Carter-Vickers should be fine for the start of the upcoming campaign. As reported by BBC, Ange Postecoglou said about the situation of the American centre-back:

"“He has already had the surgery, the reports are that it went really well and he should be right for the start of the season next year to begin the season which is great news for us.”"

It is safe to say that that is great news for Celtic. Carter-Vickers is one of the most important players that the club have at this point of time. And thus, they will want to have him back available as soon as possible.

Of course, it is also important that he recovers fully and that his return is not hurried. One would expect the Hoops to get things right though.

There are still some very important games left this season, including a Glasgow Derby away at Ibrox against the Rangers and the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT next month at Hampden Park, which could be for the treble.

In the absence of Carter-Vickers, Yuki Kobayashi looks set to take his place in the heart of defence alongside Carl Starfelt. The Japanese centre-back has done very well in the appearances that he has made for the club. But at the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that he has not played in big games for the Hoops. So, this will be his first real test in a Celtic shirt.
