It goes without saying that Celtic have been very successful on the pitch over the past couple of years under the management of Ange Postecoglou. They won a double last season against all odds and expectations. And this time around, the Hoops are in the running to win a possible treble. Let’s see how things turn out in that regard.
But if there is one complaint that fans have had in recent years, it is the club’s struggles in bringing through their talented youth stars into the senior team. They have not been helped by the fact though that many of them leave the club before ever making an impact in the senior side. And it looks like another one of them is drawing interest from the Premier League.
As reported by the Daily Record, Crystal Palace scouted Celtic youngster, Mitchel Frame, in last night’s Scottish Youth Cup final. The Premier League appear to have the left-back on their radar.
Frame was one of the best performers on the pitch on the night. And he was even successful in finding the back of the net. Thus, Crystal Palace scouts must have been surely impressed with what they saw from the 17-year-old.
Crystal Palace interested in signing Celtic defender
Frame is just 17 years of age. But he is very highly rated and the hope is that one day he can break into the first-team picture.
It remains to be seen what happens. But the interest from down south would be a bit of a worry. If Celtic are to bring through their youth players into the senior team, they have to make sure that they hold onto their best youngsters moving forward.
That has proven difficult in recent years though. Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and several others have swooped in and signed their best youngsters.
