Celtic player makes unexpected claim about Rangers
Celtic have been absolutely dominant over the Rangers in all departments this season. They have won four of the five Glasgow Derbies till now, drawing the other one. And while there has been a lot of talk about the Ibrox club improving since the arrival of Michael Beale as manager, three of those losses have come during his time in the hot seat.
The latest game between the two teams was the Scottish Cup semi-final. It was the Rangers’ last hope of silverware this season and yet, they could not stop Celtic from getting a 1-0 win and booking their place in the final.
Thus, there has been a lot of talk about the gap that exists between the two Glasgow giants right now. And yet, Celtic players have simply refused to be drawn into those talks.
As reported by The Scotsman, Celtic’s Matt O’Riley said when asked whether there was a significant gap between the two clubs:
"“I wouldn’t say so. Purely because the games are always tough when we play against them.“Obviously our position in the table is quite a lot higher than theirs in terms of the points difference. Saying that, when we played them in the semi-final it was still a very tough game.“I think it’s harsh to say they are miles away from us but at the same time I think we’ve been very, very good this season.”"
Celtic player makes unexpected claim about Rangers
Of course, that is a very different approach to things when compared to what some of the Rangers’ players have taken in recent times. Comments coming out of the Ibrox camp, leading up to Glasgow Derbies, have been the cause of a lot of controversy.
Despite all the hype surrounding the fixture, the Rangers have failed to win a single one of them this season till now. And they will only get one more chance to change that this season, when Celtic travel to Ibrox to take part in the final Glasgow Derby of the campaign.
Of course, the result of that game is not expected to have much effect on the title race. In fact, Celtic could enter Ibrox already as champions of Scotland. Do not expect to see a guard of honour on the day though.
