Celtic are just one league win away from retaining the Premiership title. They will get the chance to do that when they travel to Tynecastle Park this weekend to take on Hearts in the first post-split fixture of the campaign. And the Hoops have made a brilliant announcement leading up to the match.
It goes without saying that there will be a lot of eyeballs on the game. Both teams have taken this opportunity to join forces in the battle against Motor Neurone Disease.
As reported by the club’s official website, both Celtic and Hearts will wear special MND Scotland t-shirts during the warm-up. The Hoops’ shirts will feature the number 7 in honour of club icon, Jimmy Johnstone. And the home team’s shirts will remember Marius Zaliukas with the number 26. Both men lost their lives to Motor Neurone Disease.
It is safe to say that this is a great initiative on the part of both the teams. It should go a long way in raising awareness about the fantastic work that MND Scotland are doing.
Celtic make announcement for match against Hearts
Both Celtic and Hearts should be applauded for the move. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the matter and also to pay tribute to two great players.
Of course, there will be a lot of attention on the action on the pitch as well. And Celtic will surely be hoping to get the job done away at Tynecastle Park.
If they win at the weekend then Celtic will be crowned the champions of Scotland once again and they will enter Ibrox as such next week. Even if that is the case, do not expect any guard of honour on that day though. Till now this season, the Rangers have not won a single Glasgow Derby and they have only one chance left.
