Ange Postecoglou’s message should end Celtic exit worry
Following Celtic’s win over the Rangers at the weekend, the club booked their place in the final of the Scottish Cup. The result also puts them on verge of a treble. And after the match, we saw Ange Postecoglou join in the celebrations with the fans. The Australian seemed more animated on this occasion than he normally is after games.
Perhaps it was the result of seeing his side go one step closer to a domestic treble and overcoming a hurdle they had failed to last season. But it certainly did not seem like someone who was planning to leave the club anytime soon.
A lot has been made of the future of Postecoglou over the course of the season. Clubs like Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and many more have been linked with him at one point or another.
The latest message from Postecoglou should end the fans’ worries about him potentially leaving though. As reported by the club’s official website, he wrote:
"I want our players to enjoy their football and I want our fans to enjoy watching them play. The rewards we aim for can only be achieved by dedication, effort and belief in our style of play, bolstered by your incredible, passionate support throughout the season. We have built on last year’s success and while our immediate focus remains on getting the job done this season, preparations are already well underway for the next campaign – and it’s a hugely exciting time for everyone associated with Celtic Football Club.I am incredibly proud of what we have already achieved and we can look forward to the challenges that lie ahead with confidence. Our strength is our unity. We know that the atmosphere you create at Celtic Park is second to none and please never underestimate how important this is.When we’re all in, we can achieve special things together.Thank you for all you have given us this year – we hope that we can count on your support at Paradise once again next season."
Postecoglou’s message should end Celtic exit worry
There is no doubt that there is interest in Postecoglou. That is natural considering the job that he has done since arriving at Celtic. But those do not read the words of a manager who is contemplating leaving the club in the summer, or anytime soon for that matter.
For a long time, it had looked like Postecoglou was never going to get the chance to manage in Europe. He got that at Celtic, in his 50s. He will know what he has at Parkhead. Especially when he looks down south and sees the managerial merry go round there.
Celtic are a special club. Not many compete for trophies every season and have 60,000 fans in attendance every week. And Postecoglou has established as a hero to those supporters.
Of course, things can change very quickly in football. But all signs point towards Postecoglou being at the club come next season.
