The two Scottish Cup semi finals at the weekend have led to an intriguing final on June 3 between Celtic and Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden Park. After an emphatic 3-0 victory over Falkirk on Saturday, the Championship club will be looking forward to a glamour match up against Scotland’s top club.
If they can also get themselves into the Championship play offs and vie for promotion to the Premiership, it could be an exciting end to the season for Inverness CT for sure.
Celtic in effect ended the Rangers’ season at the weekend as Jota’s goal helped them to a 1-0 victory on Sunday. Hoops fans will also expect the Premiership title to be confirmed soon, with just one win needed from their last five league matches.
That then means that their Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT would give them the chance to tie up an astounding and world record 8th Treble. One more than the Rangers have achieved.
Celtic vs Inverness CT final set for controversial decision
Both sets of fans will therefore be looking forward to the traditions and glamour of Scottish Cup final day. But the timing of the fixture could potentially be rescheduled this time around.
For years the Scottish Cup final and the FA Cup final in England had kicked off at 3 PM on the same day. In recent years the Wembley final moved to a 5:15 PM start but this year it has been switched back to the traditional 3 PM slot for the much anticipated game between Manchester City and Manchester United.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Scottish Cup final is heading for a lunchtime kick-off. Early talks have taken place over the controversial move.
Of course, if such a decision is taken, it would make neither set of fans happy. Especially the ones supporting Inverness CT, who would have to travel for a lunchtime kick-off.
