Celtic are on the verge of a treble. Having already won the League Cup earlier in the campaign, they now just need won more league win to be crowned champions of Scotland again and they are also in the Scottish Cup final, where they will be taking on Inverness Caledonian Thistle next month.
They will be in those games without arguably their best player of this season though. Cameron Carter-Vickers played his last game of the campaign, with the Scottish Cup semi-final against the Rangers at the weekend.
He put in an immense performance on the day as well and was Man of the Match. It is hard to believe that he has been playing through an injury in the second half of the campaign.
Do not expect to see him back on the pitch in the near future though. As reported by SBI Soccer, Carter-Vickers is set to miss 3-4 months following knee surgery.
Celtic player ruled out for three to four months with injury
It will be interesting to see if Carter-Vickers is able to recover in time to start next season. He looks almost certain to miss a good portion of pre-season if not all of it.
At the end of the day though, this was the right time for him to undergo surgery. One would hope that Celtic have enough in the tank to get over the line in the league title race from here, even without Carter-Vickers at the back. Of course, they will be favourites in the Scottish Cup final against Inverness but cannot make the mistake of taking the opposition lightly. They must take their A-game to Hampden Park next month.
Finally, we can only wish Carter-Vickers the best in his recovery and hope to see him back to full fitness and on the pitch as soon as possible.
