Celtic have a number of former players, who have gone on to take a step in management. And it is always interesting to see how their careers go. Due to their links from their playing days, inevitably, they are always linked with the Parkhead job if they do well. But only a select few have ever sat on that hot seat, which is currently occupied by Ange Postecoglou.

One former Celtic player has made quite a mark in management lately though. It is none other than Barry Robson.

Robson spent a couple of years playing for Celtic. Of course, he represented several other teams during the course of his career. Aberdeen were one of them and he was named the caretaker manager of the Dons not too long ago.

While eyebrows might have been raised at the move from Aberdeen at that time, there is no denying that Robson has done a great job at the club till now. So much so that he has been handed the job permanently.

As reported by Aberdeen’s official website, Robson and his assistant, Steve Agnew, have agreed two-year contract extensions and will remain at Pittodrie Stadium until at least the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

The impact that Robson has made at Aberdeen has been superb to say the very least. He has taken a team that had been showing borderline relegation form and has brought them up to third in the league table. In recent weeks, they have been the best team in the country behind Celtic.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Aberdeen are able to sustain the form that they have shown under the management of Robson. Often times, that is the most difficult task that any manager faces. Let’s see how it works out for the Scot.
