Celtic have been brilliant when it comes to identifying the right talent to fit Ange Postecoglou’s system in recent times. That is one of the biggest reasons why they have been so successful over the past couple of seasons. The club have pulled off one transfer masterstroke after another, rebuilding the squad expertly within such a short span of time and improving it as well.

It is not just the senior team that needs strengthening though but the youth ranks as well. After all, the Hoops have regularly seen some of their best youngsters leave the club without ever making a mark at Parkhead.

It is important that those players are replaced. And it looks like the Hoops have their eyes set on a very highly-rated talent from down south. Arsenal are also in the race to sign him though.

As reported by Football Insider, Arsenal and Celtic lead the race to sign Colchester United’s Makhaya James. The 17-year-old has been a standout at the youth levels for the club.

It is very clear that James is a very highly rated talent when you see the teams which are looking to sign him. Other than Celtic and Arsenal, there are more believed to be after his signature as well.

But at this point of time, it is believed that Celtic and Arsenal are the two teams in pole position to sign James. Now, it remains to be seen who comes out on top and signs the left-back from Colchester United.

It was just last summer that James arrived at Colchester United and it is clear that he has impressed with his performances. The English League Two side are believed to be bracing themselves for offers for the defender in the summer transfer window.
