Celtic defender signs contract extension until 2025
Celtic have an impressive amount of depth in their squad right now as a result of strengthening constantly over the past four transfer windows. One of their strongest areas has actually proven to be their defence, as the duo of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt have been complemented by full-backs like Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor.
Of course, one of the next steps for the club has to be bringing through the youth players into the senior team. That is one complaint that fans have had in recent years and understandably so.
We have seen positive steps in the right direction though. The likes of Rocco Vata and Ben Summers have been given minutes lately. And now, a B Team standout has signed a contract extension.
As reported by the club’s official website, B team defender Mitchell Robertson has signed a new contract, with the 18-year-old extending his stay at Celtic until the summer of 2025.

Robertson has had a bit of breakout campaign this time around. He has played a key part in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League.
It is safe to say that Robertson is very highly rated and hopes are that one day he will break into the first-team. He is still just 18 years of age though and that might still be some distance away, especially with the depth in defence that the club have right now.
Behind Starfelt and Carter-Vickers, the club also have players like Yuki Kobayashi and Stephen Welsh. Tomoki Iwata is capable of playing in the heart of defence as well. Thus, the next step in Robertson’s development might very well be a loan spell. The 18-year-old does have every tool though to be a first-team contributor for the senior team one day, if he can develop properly.
