This summer is going to be a very interesting one for Celtic. For the previous four transfer windows, they have been completely focused on strengthening their ranks. But this time around, a number of their players are being linked with exits. On the other hand, there are plenty, who will be making their return from respective loan spells as well.
Osaze Urhoghide seems to fall under that category. The defender has gone pretty much under the radar through the course of this campaign and his form away on loan at KV Oostende has not been a topic of heavy discussion.
Urhoghide has quietly played quite a bit of first-team football in the Belgian top flight though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 29 appearances across all competitions this season.
But as reported by Nieuwsblad, last summer, his option to buy proved too expensive, and this summer will be no different.
Forgotten Celtic player set to make Parkhead return
So, Urhoghide is expected to make a return to Parkhead in the summer transfer window. But it is hard to see him having a big place in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
Of course, the manager will surely have a look at him in pre-season, to see how far he has developed over the past season-and-a-half. But at the end of the day, Celtic just have a lot of options in defence.
Urhoghide joined Celtic in the summer of 2021 and stayed on for half a season but only managed to make a single appearance for the club, before being sent out on loan. He is still just 22 years of age though and has a contract with the Hoops that runs until the summer 2025. Thus, it would not be a major surprise if he found himself out on loan once again in the upcoming season.
