The upcoming summer transfer window could be an interesting one for Celtic. There are not a lot of positions where they need to bring in players but at the same time, there could be exits. One area that they might not be the strongest though is between the posts, and rumours have suggested that they could be looking for another goalkeeper in the near future.

Celtic were devoid of an experienced and reliable campaigner between the posts before the arrival of Joe Hart. The former English number one moved to Glasgow from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021.

The transfer came on the back of a series of underwhelming spells for the former Manchester City star. He had somewhat lost his path in the game and was playing the role of cover for a while.

Following his move to the Parkhead, Hart has managed to re-establish himself as a regular starter and shown that he is still capable of being a league-winning goalkeeper. With his contract running out in the summer of 2024 and him being 36, what the future hold though.

Even though Hart has done enough to hold on to his place in the starting XI for Celtic, there have been suggestions that the club could be looking to add another goalkeeper in the summer. On the other hand, what does the future hold for the Englishman.

As reported by The Sunday Post [18/04 print edition] (via 67 Hail Hail), Hart said:

"“We’ll see. I haven’t actually given it much thought and I don’t know if the club has. They are a business so they are always going to be thinking about the future. Like I say, I am in a real privileged position to be enjoying every day as it comes and trying to give my best.“I still have another year on my contract, so I don’t really feel that conversation needs to be had. I’m in a special part of my career where I’m not chasing a contract or worrying about negotiations. It’s not really where I’m at. I’m just loving being part of the football and what will be will be. Conversations like that will probably happen when they need to be had but I don’t need to be knocking doors down and I certainly don’t expect people to be badgering me.”"

Having made regular appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, Hart is leading Celtic to another domestic title as the number one goalkeeper, with the possibility of a domestic treble on the table for the defending Scottish champions. But at the same time, that does not mean that the Hoops cannot improve in that area of the pitch.
