Ange Postecoglou has done a tremendous job since arriving as the manager of Celtic. They have already won three trophies during the time of the Australian at Parkhead, and more could possibly be on the way. Thus, it should come as no surprise that he has been constantly linked with a move away from the club.

Postecoglou has already been linked with clubs like Leeds United, Everton, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and more. Now, it looks like another English have their sights set on him. And they are bigger than any of the previous ones.

As reported by The Guardian, Postecoglou is an inclusion on the shortlist of candidates to become Chelsea’s next head coach. The club are believed to be leaning more towards Mauricio Pochettino though.

Of course, anybody with even a passing interest in the Premier League will know that Chelsea have endured a terrible campaign this time around. Despite breaking transfer records left, right and centre, they look set to finish trophyless and outside of the top 10.

Thus, the circumstances are not good at Chelsea. They recently brought in Frank Lampard as caretaker manager until the end of the season, after showing Graham Potter the exit door. They have lost all four of their matches since then. It looks set to be their worst campaign of the century.

In many ways, it does feel a bit similar to the position that Celtic found themselves after the 2020/21 campaign. They had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league.

Postecoglou took over the following summer and turned them back in champions of Scotland. Thus, he has experience of steering a ship in the right direction.

Chelsea are a big club without doubt. But one has to question whether it is the right job for Postecoglou. They have a history of impatience with managers, and are already on their third one this season, with an eye on bringing in a new one in the summer.
