The upcoming summer transfer window is going to be an interesting one for Celtic. We have already seen Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis leave the club, and now, more of Ange Postecoglou’s signings could be headed out of Parkhead. It is important that the club hold onto their best performers.

One player who has been constantly linked with a move away in recent months is Liel Abada. The Israeli international arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2021.

He has found starts difficult to come by this season though, as he sits behind Daizen Maeda and Jota in the pecking order. And yet, Abada has played a big role in the club’s successes over the past couple of campaigns, mostly playing the role of an impact substitute this time around.

Despite his lack of starts, the youngster seems to have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. As tweeted out by Nicolo Schira, Benfica and Ajax are interested in Abada.

Ajax have been linked with Abada in the past as well. But Benfica are a new name in the mix. The Portuguese club have an incredible reputation for developing young players. It was just in January that we saw Enzo Fernandez join Chelsea for a club record fee.

Thus, it is not hard to see why someone like Abada might find a move to Benfica attractive. Especially considering the fact that he is not a regular starter for Celtic at this point of time.

He has a long-term deal with Celtic though and the club must let Abada leave, only under the right circumstances. At 21 years of age, and with the amount of teams rumoured to be interested in him, they should look for a transfer fee north of £10 million.
