Celtic handed worrying Jota news before Glasgow Derby
Celtic will be looking to finish the campaign strong as a treble is still up for grabs. Considering the position that they are in, the Hoops seem destined to win the Premiership title from here. On the other hand, they will face the Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals later this month. The fitness situation of Jota could be a worry for Ange Postecoglou.
Jota has been a key player for Celtic since he arrived last season. As a result, they will surely want him to be available for their biggest games.
But, there appears to be an injury concern surrounding the Portuguese winger, who was not in the squad against Kilmarnock last weekend. While leaving him out of the starting XI makes sense, not even having him on the bench on the day did raise some eyebrows.
As reported by The Scottish Sun (via Football Scotland), Liel Abada will come into contention for the Hampden Park game against the Rangers. Meanwhile, there could be a sweat over Jota for the Glasgow Derby. He isn’t expected to return against Motherwell this weekend.
Celtic handed worrying Jota news before Glasgow Derby
Celtic will surely want to have Jota available for the upcoming game against the Rangers. He has been one of their star performers in the big games this season. He found the back of the net in the recent Glasgow Derby and even scored against Real Madrid earlier in the campaign.
There is no doubt that Jota is part of Celtic’s strongest XI. But if he does end up missing the big game somehow, then the club do have enough depth to deal with the issue.
Hopefully, it won’t come to that. There is a sense of mystery surrounding the fitness status of the Portuguese winger though, as no injury has been officially confirmed yet.
