A number of Celtic players have been linked with moves away in recent months. It is not hard to understand why either. Several of them have stood out under the management of Ange Postecoglou. The club won a double last season and are in the running for a treble this time around.
The likes of Kyogo, Liel Abada, Carl Starfelt, Reo Hatate and more seem to be drawing interest from down south. Another name that has joined that list is that of Matt O’Riley.
O’Riley was signed from MK Dons in January of last year and has been important to this Celtic side since then. He has had a bit of a rough patch this season, when he struggled to get ahead of Aaron Mooy in the pecking order but now, the youngster seems to back in the starting XI, and even scored a brace against Kilmarnock at the weekend to double his goal tally for the campaign.
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, O’Riley is understood to be happy at Celtic even after a few Premier League and Bundesliga clubs have shown serious interest in him.
Premier League clubs want to sign another Celtic player
O’Riley is just 22 years of age and the sky is the limit for the Danish youth international. In the past, he has been linked with European giants like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
It remains to be seen if any significant offers end up coming in for him in the summer. The best case scenario would be him staying on at Celtic Park for the foreseeable future though.
O’Riley has plenty of time on his hands to develop his game under the management of Postecoglou and become a better player. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 12 assists in 44 appearances this season till now.
