Celtic have pulled off numerous smart signings over the past four transfer windows. People have claimed that the club have splashed out but then, the players that they have brought in were not household names by any stretch of the imagination. The only one was Joe Hart and he had been a second-choice goalkeeper at that point.

Thus, it has been one transfer masterstroke after another that has taken Celtic back to the top of Scottish football under the management of Ange Postecoglou. And they have the chance to pull off another one this summer.

Branco van den Boomen has been one of the standout players in Ligue 1 this season. Even more impressive is the fact that he plays in the middle of the park for Toulouse, who currently sit at 12th in the table.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Van den Boomen has scored 6 goals and provided 12 assists in 34 appearances this season across all competitions.

Van den Boomen is believed to be rated at around €9 million but he could be available on a free transfer this summer. His current deal with Toulouse runs out at the end of the campaign and there have been suggestions that he could be on his way out.

With players like Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley being linked with moves away, he could be a perfect replacement to bring in to the club. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move or not.

The Dutchman is also just 27 years of age and is entering his prime as a footballer. It is not a story of him having one standout campaign either. He had completely dominated Ligue 2 last season. Thus, Van den Boomen is a player that Celtic will hopefully be keeping an eye on because this seems like a wonderful transfer opportunity.
