Celtic find themselves in an interesting position right now. The club are closing in on their second straight Premiership title, and winning a treble is still a possibility. Domestically, they have been near perfect, losing and drawing one game each this season till now. In Europe, the Hoops do need to improve though.
For that to happen next season, they will need to make sure that they keep the core of the current team together while strengthen further in the transfer window. But a number of their key players are being linked with moves away.
One such player is Liel Abada. The Israeli international might not be a regular starter for the Hoops right now but he is an important part of the team nonetheless, as he has been used by Ange Postecoglou as an impact substitute consistently.
Clubs like Southampton, Ajax and Crystal Palace have been linked with Abada. And Andy Walker seems to believe that Celtic would be willing to let the Israeli international go in the summer.
Sky Sports man tips Celtic to let important player go
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Walker said while speaking on The Go Radio Football Show:
"“I think Celtic have shown over the last number of years that they are a club that are always willing to do business. And if Ajax are in for Abada, from memory, I think he’s got around 10 goals this season but he doesn’t play enough for himself.“I think he’s fit. I think Celtic will do business. They will make a profit from him and they will go and get someone else. And you’ve got to say, he’s had a terrific attitude. He has been brilliant in big games.“He’s been brilliant against Rangers. He has scored goals on the big occasion and has looked an exciting player. Celtic will miss him in as much the same way as they miss Giakoumakis and Juranovic. These guys come and go and you change the menu pretty regularly.”"
It is safe to say that Abada is a key part of this team. He might not be a starter, but the impact that he makes off the bench is something that has helped the Hoops time after time.
The ability that Abada has to make an effect in the final third of the pitch is special. And even though there are other aspects of his game where he needs to improve, it is not hard to understand why multiple clubs are interested in signing him.
He is just 21 years of age though and has a long-term contract with Celtic. Thus, it remains to be seen what the club decide to do.
