Celtic have already won the League Cup, are in a very strong position in the league and will be meeting the Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final. Thus, a potential treble is still on the table for Ange Postecoglou’s side. Of course, now it is all about finishing the season strong and getting the job done. They cannot rest on their laurels.

Their recent 3-2 win over the Rangers should give them a lot of confidence going into the final stretch of the season though. The Hoops were nowhere near their best on the day and still found a way to defeat Michael Beale’s side.

They have not lost against the Rangers this season till now. 0ne controversial moment coming out of the Glasgow Derby though was the goal from Alfredo Morelos that was disallowed for a foul on Alistair Johnston in the lead up to it.

Surprisingly, Frank McAvennie appears to believe that it was probably a goal from Morelos. As reported by Football Insider, the former Celtic player said:

"“It was very soft.“The two of them were pulling each other’s shirt. I have not got a problem saying that it was probably a goal.“But, in today’s game you have to be careful if you lift your hands and shove anyone.“Johnston went down and that was all the referee saw.“I do not think it would have made much difference if it had been a goal, I think Celtic would have stepped up. They did not play well at all and still got the results.“"

To be honest, it seemed like a 50/50 decision at best. Morelos did have both his hands on Johnston before he went down.

Thus, it cannot be called a clear and obvious error on the part of the referee. If that had not led to a goal, then nobody would have batted an eye at that being given as a foul.

Whatever the controversy maybe though, the game is over, and the fact of the matter is that Celtic won. Now, let’s hope that they are able to get a similar result at Hampden Park as well when the two Glasgow giants meet the next time around. The Hoops lost the same fixture last season and will be hoping to avoid a repeat this time for sure.
