John Lundstram makes U-turn after recent loss to Celtic
Celtic sit in a commanding position in the league title race at this point of time and unless something unexpected happens over the coming weeks, they seem almost certain to go on and lift the trophy. Of course, that does not mean that they can rest on their laurels before the race is over mathematically.
On the other hand, the most important match remaining this season might very well be the Scottish Cup semi final against the Rangers. Celtic lost this fixture the last time around and they would surely want to get things right on this occasion.
It must be said though that Celtic have not looked at their best in recent weeks. They won the recent Glasgow Derby against the Rangers by a 3-2 scoreline but hopefully, they will put in a better performance when the two teams meet at the end of the month at Hampden Park.
John Lundstram had sounded confident ahead of the last Glasgow Derby, but now, the Rangers star seems a lot more measured in his comments. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:
"“We all want to win in the Old Firm, of course we do.“That’s our biggest rival – to get a win against them would be great.“I thought we were a lot better in the last Old Firm than we were in the one before.“So hopefully we can get that big statement performance that can really give us confidence then to go on.”"

Of course, those comments sound a lot different to what he had said before the previous Glasgow Derby. As reported by the Daily Record, Lundstram said:
"“We’ve got to keep on fighting to try and draw back some points. But we have to perform better than we did in the Cup Final. The gap looked a lot bigger that day because we weren’t great and they played well. So we must put up a better showing.“If we do that you’ll see the gap probably isn’t as big as what people make it out to be. We’ll speak internally about our game plan. But we need to put up a better fight and show better quality on the ball than we did in the past. Our past results at Parkhead haven’t been good enough. So we need to put on a better show.”"
Celtic cannot spent much time thinking about the Rangers star’s comments though. They have a league title to win from here while also hopefully getting past the semi final hurdle in the Scottish Cup and winning a potential treble from here.
It is of course easier said than done but Ange Postecoglou’s side should be confident in their ability to get it done. They have only lost one and drawn one game each this season in domestic competitions till now. Let’s hope that remains the case.
