Celtic have signed a number of players during the time of Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club. And a number of them have gone on to become household names. Their brilliant recruitment has been a major reason behind how quickly the club have been able to turn things around and return to the top of Scottish football, after the disaster that was the 2020/21 campaign.
While the new faces deserve a lot of credit for the incredible job that they have done, one player who has been through it all is Callum McGregor. He has gone from ball boy to captain of the club.
There were many who had questioned the decision to hand him the armband after the departure of Scott Brown. After all, he is a very different personality. But he has made the role his own since then and might be lifting his second straight league title as captain soon.
Tony Curran, who has had roles in works like Daredevil, The Flash, Doctor Who, 24, Mayflies and many more, seems to be a big fan of McGregor. He tweeted out about the Celtic captain:
"His incredible ability as a footballer is only matched, nay possibly eclipsed by his insatiable drive and passion to win! We really are so fortunate to have such a warrior as our leader, he’s an inspiration!"
Hollywood star makes superb claim about Celtic player
McGregor has been one of the best and most consistent players in Scottish football for years now. And Celtic are truly fortunate to have someone like him leading from the front.
He is someone who leads by example, with one great performance after another. While there might have been doubts about how he would do as a captain, he has taken to that role like a duck to water as well.
It is wonderful to see a player, who has come through the ranks at Celtic, do so well and establish himself as a legend at Parkhead. McGregor is still 29 years of age though and there are still a lot of chapters left to be written in his story.
