It might have been a couple of days since Celtic got the better of the Rangers in the latest Glasgow Derby to go twelve points clear at the top of the league table, but the dust has not quite settled on the game. There was some controversy coming out of it for sure and many of the Ibrox supporters appear to believe that they were the better team on the day.
Admittedly, Celtic were not at their best. Nowhere near to be very honest. And yet, they were still good enough to get a win over Michael Beale’s side and put the league title race beyond them for all intents and purposes.
While the players will and should get their fair share of the plaudits, the Celtic fans were outstanding on the occasion. And after the match, Ange Postecoglou gave them credit for willing the team on.
The Celtic boss seemed to be delighted with the support that his team received from the fans on the day. As reported by The Scotsman (via 67 Hail Hail), Postecoglou said:
"“The support was outstanding today, unbelievable. What an atmosphere, again you feel privileged to be part of that. I am sure the players really got energised by it. The fans were just willing the team on. They were a threat at set pieces, we had a couple of nervy minutes but you could still see the fans were picking them up.”"
Postecoglou sends brilliant message to Celtic fans
The Celtic fans certainly played their part in getting the team over the line on the day against the Rangers. It is no con-incidence that the club’s record has been so spectacular at Parkhead during the time of Postecoglou as manager.
Celtic are the heavy favourites to go on and win the Premiership from here on forward. On the other hand, they could potentially end up winning a treble as well.
They are in the Scottish Cup semis, where they will be taking on the Rangers at Hampden Park. They lost the same fixture last time around and will hopefully be able to get things right on this occasion and make it to the big final.
