The Scottish Premiership is a league where English top flight clubs have signed the best players from for years. Stars such as Kieran Tierney, John McGinn and Aaron Hickey, are now plying their trades in the Premier League. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Celtic players are being linked with moves down south amidst their successes this season.

Celtic are currently leading the title race by twelve points. And the Rangers’ opportunity of catching up to the Hoops is gradually decreasing with every matchday, especially after their recent Glasgow Derby defeat.

The upcoming summer transfer window opens an opportunity for the Premier League clubs to join the pursuit of the best players that the Scottish Premiership has to offer. And one Celtic player seems to be in demand.

As reported by Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion have set their sights on a summer move for Reo Hatate. The Seagulls have watched the Japanese midfielder regularly this season and have been left impressed with his performances.

Brighton and Hove Albion interested in Celtic midfielder

Hatate, now 25 years of age, joined Celtic in the winter transfer window of 2022. Since moving to the Glasgow giants, he has been superb and been a key part of their successes.

The Japan international, who is now considered a fundamental part of Ange Postecoglou’s midfield, has a contract with Celtic running till the summer of 2026. However, if he continues to perform like this, one would expect Premier League clubs to swoop in much sooner.

There is an argument to be made that Hatate has been the best player in Scottish football this season. He is currently out injured though and missed the recent Glasgow Derby as a result of it. But that was not enough to stop Celtic from getting another victory over the Rangers at Parkhead.
