Another Glasgow Derby, another defeat for the Rangers. Celtic might have been nowhere near their best on the day and clearly missed the presence of Reo Hatate in the middle of the park, but they did the most important thing that was expected of them though, and that was to get all three points.

The result sees them go twelve points clear of the Rangers. And it might very well have put the title race to bed for all intents and purposes.

The Rangers supporters were not happy with a few decisions on the day though. Firstly, many of them claimed that Alfredo Morelos’ disallowed goal should have stood, even though he clearly had both his hands on Alistair Johnston in the lead up to it. On the other hand, some believed that Jota had handled the ball before Celtic’s second goal, through Kyogo.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Michael Beale said to Sky Sports after the match:

"“There are one or two decisions that have gone against us. I’m a bit disappointed with that. The goal Alfredo scores, their boy isn’t trying to play the ball and Alfredo’s shirt is twisted back – that would prove both of them are at it.“After Ben’s mistake, I’m certain it hits the boy’s arm. It might not be outside his body but it hits his arm. They’re rough decisions for us today. I’m disappointed, I’m not a manager that’s gone for VAR this season but I think they’ve got them wrong.”"

Beale makes big claim after the Rangers lost to Celtic again in the Glasgow Derby

It is safe to say that this was a must win game for the Rangers, if they wanted to have any chance of catching up with Celtic in the points table. But they could not get the job done even though the Hoops were not anywhere close to their best.

The two teams have a big Scottish Cup semi final coming up as well. One would be hoping that the Hoops put in a much better display on that day because to be very honest, this was not their best.

They were successful in doing what they do best though, and that is win games of football. The Hoops have only drawn and lost once each in domestic competitions this season till now. Hopefully that remains the case till the end, and if so, they would have won themselves a treble.
