We are not too long away from Celtic and the Rangers coming up against each other once again. Their last meeting was in the Scottish League Cup final earlier this year and the Hoops came out on top on that occasion to add to their trophy cabinet. A lot could be riding on the result of their upcoming Premiership game as well though.
If Celtic are able to win then they will go twelve points clear off the Rangers with just seven league games left to be played. Thus, such a result would end the title race for all intents and purposes. And their recent record at Parkhead in Glasgow derbies will definitely give them a lot of confidence that they can pull it off.
The Glasgow Derby remains the biggest attraction in Scottish football and a lot of eyes will be on the game this weekend. Peter Crouch has even admitted that attending one is on his bucket list.
As reported by Football Scotland, he said on That Peter Crouch Podcast:
"“I played in some big derbies and there are some derbies I want to go to. Boca Juniors vs River Plate, that’s on my radar.“I’ve never been to the Glasgow derby – Celtic and Rangers. That’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.“Big derbies in other countries, I haven’t done El Clasico. They are things on my bucket list and I said when I retired I would do them.”"
Crouch makes Celtic vs Rangers Derby claim
Crouch of course played for a number of big clubs during his playing career. He played for the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and many more.
Thus, he would have been a part of his fair share of high profile derbies during his playing days. But one has to feel that none of them compare to the Glasgow Derby. It is a true spectacle and something that has to be experienced for sure.
It remains to be seen how this weekend’s one plays out. Celtic cannot make the mistake of taking the Rangers lightly. They have not lost a game in the league since the appointment of Michael Beale as manager. So, hopefully the Bhoys will bring their A-game.
