Ben Foster has become a popular figure late on in his career, thanks to his brilliant YouTube channel and likeable personality. And the goalkeeper recently recalled his experience of playing at Celtic Park back in 2008, as he made his UEFA Champions League debut while at Manchester United.

Foster had a long and successful career, spending most of it in the Premier League. Of course, he was at Manchester United for a few years. But he achieved most of his success playing for clubs like West Bromwich Albion and Watford.

Foster retired from the game at the end of last season, even though he was still starting at the Premier League level for Watford. But he returned to the pitch recently, to play for Wrexham, famously owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Foster recently shared his experience of playing at Parkhead on his Champions League debut and it appears that it scared him. As reported by the Daily Record, the veteran goalkeeper said while speaking on Yours Mine Away:

"“That was some atmosphere there. There are two atmospheres that have genuinely scared me. Parkhead is one. Graham Stack tells this brilliant story from when he played for Hibs, and he said they would play against Celtic, and there was one game in particular they were winning 1-0. They were just about to take it into the 90th minute and he knew they were going to lose.”"

It goes without saying that Celtic Park has one of the best atmospheres in world football, if not the very best. And the fans are especially up for it when it is a night under the bright lights of the UEFA Champions League.

The game Foster talks about was a 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Celtic. The Hoops were close to getting the better of the Red Devils on that night, but Ryan Giggs came up with a late equaliser. The opposition had world-class players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and several others on the pitch on that occasion.

Of course, Foster is not the first player to be blown away by the Parkhead atmosphere. Greats of the game like Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Kaka, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and more have had high praise for it over the years.
