Celtic are getting ready to welcome the Rangers to Parkhead in a vital game for the fate of the Premiership title. The Hoops are leading the league by nine points right now with just eight more games to be played. As a result, if they can get the better of Michael Beale’s team this weekend, the title race might be as good as over.
Celtic have a number of top quality players in their squad right now. But one who has been a particular standout this season is Kyogo.
The Japanese star has been superb once again and is scoring even more frequently this season. The last time that Celtic met the Rangers, Kyogo scored a brace to guide the Hoops to the Scottish League Cup title. And fans will be hoping that he can repeat his Hampden Park heroics at Parkhead this weekend.
When Kyogo was signed, there were many question marks about whether he could adjust to the physicality of the Scottish league. It is safe to say that it is the Premiership which has struggled to adjust to his movement and speed.
Even Kris Boyd admits Celtic player terrifies defenders
Even Boyd seems to have been impressed with Kyogo and considers him the difference between the two Glasgow giants right now. As reported by Sky Sports, the former Rangers star said:
"“The difference between the two teams at this moment in time is the main striker. Celtic have got one who’s a threat, while Rangers have a lack of movement at the top end, so Celtic can squeeze the game right up.“For Connor Goldson and Ben Davies, it doesn’t matter if you’re doing really well against Kyogo – if you switch off for a second, he’s away. His pace and movement terrifies defenders, and they’ve got so many runners who will go beyond as well.”"
It is safe to say that opposition defenders have struggled to cope with Kyogo. The Japanese star has proven to be the difference on numerous occasions already this season, and he is someone who rises to the big occasion as well.
One could argue that Kyogo is the best signing that Celtic have made in a long, long time. And the fans will be looking towards him to deliver the goods when they take to the Parkhead pitch to take on the Rangers this weekend.
