Celtic have been brilliant when it comes to their transfer activity in recent times. During the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager, they have signed a number of top players like Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and several others. But the club were pulling off transfer masterstrokes even before the Australian had arrived.

The signing of Jeremie Frimpong certainly falls under that category. The Dutchman arrived at the club from Manchester City, while he was still a teenager.

Within months, he was a nailed on starter though. Ultimately, his stay at Parkhead was only 18 months long, and he would end up moving to Bayer Leverkusen in January of 2021.

Frimpong has continued to perform at a top level at Bayer Leverkusen as well. He is one of the most exciting young talents in the Bundesliga and that has seen him being linked with some of the biggest clubs in world football. Thus, the Dutch youngster could be on the move soon.

As reported by Glasgow Times, at the time of Frimpong’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, reports had claimed that Celtic had inserted a sell-on clause, believed to be worth around 30 percent of the profit on his next transfer. He has been linked with at least a £30 million move to Manchester United. If that is accurate then the Hoops could be set to rake in at least £5.55 million from the move.

It is safe to say that that kind of a figure would represent a major boost to Celtic. And it is a major credit to the club’s scouting system for identifying someone like Frimpong so early in his career.

Now, it remains to be seen if he ends up making a move this summer or not. Several clubs other than Manchester United are also believed to be interested.
