Celtic are currently at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Having played 30 games this season so far, the Hoops have earned 85 points. Having suffered just one defeat and one draw throughout the campaign till now, the defending champions are leading the title race by nine points.

However, it seems like the club management has several other issues to deal with, outside the field. One of them appears to involve the contract situation of Liel Abada, who has been linked with a move away in the summer.

Following a spell at Maccabi Petah Tikva, Abada arrived at Parkhead for a transfer fee believed to be around £3.5 million in the summer transfer window of 2021. The Israeli international’s current deal with the club runs until June 2026.

But with clubs, even from the Premier League, rumoured to be showing an interest in the 21-year-old winger, his future at Celtic has been thrown in major doubt.

As reported by Football Insider, Abada has rejected a new contract at the club. There have been suggestions that he wants to leave Parkhead this summer.

Since arriving at Celtic, Abada has been a key player. But he has found starts harder to come by this season. Instead, he has been mostly used as an impact substitute.

He has done very well in that role as well, effecting games with goals and assists after coming on. But he has not been able to move ahead of the likes of Jota and Daizen Maeda.

If Abada is looking for playing time though, a move to the Premier League might not be the right step for him. He is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of time to learn and develop further. If he joins an English top flight club now, he might get lost in the shuffle.
