Celtic fans would have known that the rumours and links would be there, the moment Brendan Rodgers was shown the Leicester City exit door. The Northern Irishman had departed Parkhead in controversial fashion in order to join the club about four years ago. And there have been suggestions that the Foxes could look to repeat the trick.
Of course, Postecoglou gets linked with almost every Premier League club these days, whenever they are in need of a manager. Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and several others have been rumoured with an interest in the Australian manager. In fact, it is a surprise that there is no speculation over a move to Chelsea, after they parted ways with Graham Potter.
It is hard to imagine Postecoglou would leave Celtic at this point of the season though. Especially in order to get involved in a relegation struggle at Leicester City.
Stiliyan Petrov believes that Postecoglou will stay on at Celtic Park for some more time. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, he told Sky Sports:
"“Of course. Good managers and good players they always get linked with big clubs especially down in the Premier League.“But I believe he is doing a great job at Celtic and he will stay because it’s about the project.“I think you’ve got the power, the players that he believes can play the style he preaches so I’m not surprised but I believe he will stay for another few years.”"
Sensational claim made about Postecoglou’s future at Celtic amid links with Leicester City
Postecoglou arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2021 as a relative unknown in European football. In fact, a lot of eyebrows were raised at the move and there was no lack of critics.
Postecoglou has proven himself and then some over the past couple of seasons though. He has already delivered three trophies during his time at Parkhead and more could be about to come this season, with them leading the league by nine points and the club is still in the Scottish Cup as well.
Thus, it is no surprise that Postecoglou is being linked with a move down south. The Premier League is a managerial merry-go-round though. While at Celtic, he has stability and is competing for trophies consistently, while managing in front of 60,000 fans every week.
