Brendan Rodgers enjoyed historic success during his time as Celtic manager. But he is not fondly remembered by the majority of the club’s supporters because of the manner in which he departed Parkhead. The Northern Irishman would leave in the middle of the season in order to join Leicester City.

Now, it would be wrong to claim that his time at Leicester City was a failure. In fact, it was a bigger success than most people would have expected. The Foxes won an FA Cup, a Community Shield and qualified for Europe on more than one occasion.

But Rodgers was shown the exit door by Leicester City after four years in charge, as he has failed to get a tune of them this season. The Foxes currently find themselves in a relegation struggle.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Rodgers too. Not too long ago, he was linked with clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and more. But after how this campaign turned out for him, it does not feel like a top job would be waiting for him.

As reported by the Daily Record, when asked where Rodgers could move next and if he was still considered a “big 6” manager, Simon Jordan told talkSPORT:

"“He is a good manager, but I think elite manager’s land inside the top four. I think he had an argument once upon a time coming out of Celtic because of his achievements there.“But I think now you (Rodgers) find yourself in a diminished position. Once upon a time it was Brendan Rodgers for Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers for Tottenham but I don’t see why now.”"

Thus, Rodgers might have missed his window of opportunity to go to a truly elite club when he left Celtic. It remains to be seen what the future holds though.

Tottenham Hotspur are without a manager right now and Rodgers is someone who has been linked with the job over the past few days. Thus, the Northern Irishman ending up there is not impossible. Of course, Celtic have an elite manager at the club right now in Ange Postecoglou and the fans would be more concerned about the Australian’s future.
