Celtic handed major problem before Rangers match
Celtic got themselves a 2-0 win away at Ross County in order to restore their nine point lead at the top of the Premiership table with just eight more league games left to be played. It also means that when they face the Rangers in their next match, at Parkhead, Ange Postecoglou’s side will have the opportunity to end the title race for all intents and purposes.
It was certainly not the best showing from Celtic against Ross County, but they were good enough to get the job done. Both goals came in added time. Jota gave them the lead from the penalty spot at the stroke of half-time. And Alexandro Bernabei put the game to bed late in the second half.
It was not all positive for Celtic on the day though. Greg Taylor ended up picking up what looked like a knee injury and was forced off the pitch after the hour mark.
It is safe to say that it could not have come at a worse time, with the Glasgow Derby less than a week away. Thus, Celtic will be nervously waiting to see if Taylor is fit in time to take on the Rangers. If he does end up missing, it would be a major blow for the Hoops.
Celtic handed major problem before Rangers match
Taylor has established himself as one of the most important and consistent players for Celtic under the management of Postecoglou. The improvement he has made since his early days at the club is impressive to say the least.
There have been suggestions that he has been playing through a few issues lately and was even left out of the Scotland national team squad recently. Now, it remains to be seen how serious his injury against Ross County is.
If Taylor does end up missing the game against the Rangers next weekend, then Bernabei would be expected to start. That would be a big ask of him. The Argentine might have scored against Ross County, but he has not featured much this season. There are question marks over the defensive side of his game and to start against the Rangers in a game of this importance would be a difficult task.
