Celtic are in a wonderful position right now. The Hoops already have the League Cup in the bag and they are still in contention for a treble. Ange Postecoglou’s team are leading the Premiership title race by comfortable margin and are in the semi final of the Scottish Cup as well, where they will be taking on the Rangers. Thus, it is important for them to finish the season strong and not take their eye off the ball.
There is always some speculation surrounding the future of Postecoglou these days though. He is linked with a different Premier League club almost every month. The latest is a big one.
Rumours suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have an eye on Postecoglou. It remains to be seen if they end up making a move in order to sign him or not.
But Alan Hutton appears to believe that Postecoglou won’t leave and will end up signing a new contract with Celtic. As reported by Football Insider, he said about the situation:
"“I do not see him going, he has definitely built something and I think he will be there for the next few seasons. I’m led to believe will want to be back in the Champions League, he will want to win more trophies, he will sign soon.“Everyone around knows what he is capable of and will obviously be monitoring as it moves forward but he is in a strong position at the moment.“"
Sensational Celtic claim amid Tottenham Hotspur rumour
Of course, one has to remember that Postecoglou is in his late 50s and does not have a ton of time on his hands to achieve his managerial goals. For a long time, it had looked like he was never going to get his chance to manage at the top level in Europe before Celtic came calling in the summer of 2021.
He has gone from a relative unknown in European football to one of the most in-demand names in the game. And if a truly huge offer did come in in the summer, then one could not blame Postecoglou for giving it a though.
At the same time though, he has a wonderful job at Celtic. He is competing for trophies on a consistent basis and managing in front of 60,000 fans every week. How many other clubs can offer him that?
