Celtic hero makes superb Ange Postecoglou to Leicester City claim
About four years after leaving Celtic, Brendan Rodgers has been shown the Leicester City exit door. Of course, his decision to exit Parkhead for the Foxes was one of the most controversial in recent memory. And it left a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of the supporters. It would be wrong to call his time at the Premier League club a failure though.
Rodgers went on to win an FA Cup, a Community Shield and guided them to Europe on more than one occasion. But the end has been a sad one for the Northern Irishman, as Leicester City look to stay up in the Premier League.
As has been the case with almost every recent sacking in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou’s name will sooner or later be thrown around as a possible candidate to take over the job.
Chris Sutton had a clear and superb take on the matter though. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic hero said while talking on BBC Radio 5 Live show:
"“You think Ange Postecoglou would walk out after what happened with Brendan and the feeling towards Brendan from most Celtic fans still?“Brendan did a phenomenal job at Celtic. Then he went down to a smaller club in Leicester City, are you telling me Ange Postecoglou right now would walk away from Celtic to go to Leicester in a relegation battle?”"
Celtic hero gives brilliant take on Postecoglou to Leicester City link
It would be safe to say that Postecoglou has done a wonderful job as manager of the Hoops and it is only natural that he is being linked with a move down south. It feels very unlikely though that he would leave near the end of the season.
At Celtic, he could potentially still win two more trophies and a treble. On the other hand, at Leicester City, he would be in a relegation struggle.
Anything can happen in football. But the chances of Postecoglou leaving Celtic at this point in order to take the Leicester City job appear to be slim to none. Yet, one can expect there to be a few rumours about the move over the coming days.
