Ange Postecoglou has exceeded all expectations as Celtic manager. When he arrived in Glasgow, he had a mountain to climb in front of him. Not only were the Hoops coming off of a terrible campaign but they had also seen multiple key players depart, and the squad was in need of a rebuild. On the other hand, even most fans were not convinced about the appointment, after their chase for Eddie Howe had failed.
Postecoglou had enjoyed success in Japan and Australia. But he had never managed a top flight club in Europe before Celtic. As a result, many questioned his abilities.
There are no doubts now though. Postecoglou has gone from someone who was not getting a chance in Europe to someone who is linked with a new Premier League club almost every month.
The latest team to be linked with him are Tottenham Hotspur. And Tam McManus believes that that is a job that could tempt Postecoglou. As reported by Football Insider, he said:
"“Postecoglou wasn’t tempted by other offers from the likes of Crystal Palace, Brighton and Everton.“I don’t think he’s going to leave them for a team not in Europe.“But Spurs will be extremely tempting and they have a lot of appeal as a club.“They have a fantastic stadium and world-class players and I think he would leave Glasgow if Tottenham came calling.“But he is doing very well at Celtic and building a long-term project there.“It would be a huge decision to make.“"
Pundit makes Tottenham Hotspur claim about Celtic boss
Postecoglou is in his late 50s and does not have a lot of time on his hands to achieve his managerial goals. Thus, if a club like Tottenham Hotspur do come calling in the summer then one would expect him to consider it. There is nothing wrong with that.
But Postecoglou has to consider the recent history of the Tottenham Hotspur job as well. The likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have failed to guide them to anything of substance. So would the Australian be given enough time to implement his ideas there?
At Celtic Park, he has the full trust of the club and the fans. And he has to consider everything very carefully before leaving. Here, he is competing for trophies consistently and managing in front of 60,000 fans every week. There are not too many teams in the world that can offer that.
