Injuries have been a worry for Celtic heading into the business end of the season. Ange Postecoglou will surely want to have all his players available with the Premiership and the Scottish Cup still up for grabs. But it looks like the Hoops will be without two stars, for the next couple of weeks or so.
A number of Celtic’s players have been dealing with injury problems recently. And it looks like Liel Abada and Anthony Ralston might be out of action for a few weeks.
In the case of Ralston, it is not a massive blow. The Scottish right-back has not featured a lot this season and Alistair Johnston is firmly ahead of him in the pecking order right now. But Abada missing might be a problem, especially with the Glasgow Derby coming up. The Israeli international has been an impact player off the bench and has made his presence felt against the Rangers in the past.
As reported by Football Scotland, Postecoglou said about Abada and Ralston:
"“Ralston and Abada picked up some injuries in camp so will probably miss a couple of weeks.“We will see how they develop.”"
Postecoglou rules out Celtic duo for weeks with injury
Celtic have a pretty stacked squad at this point of time. Thus, injuries have not had a great effect on them this season. And one would hope that that continues to be the case as well.
The club have players like Jota, Daizen Maeda and Sead Haksabanovic, who can play in place of Abada and might all be ahead of him in the pecking order. But it is hard to replace his ability to make an impact in the final third of the pitch, which is so special about the Israeli international.
On the other hand, one can only hope that Johnston does not end up picking up an issue over the next couple of weeks, with Ralston unavailable. Otherwise, Celtic might be left a little light on options in that area of the pitch.
