Celtic are running away with the Premiership title once again. The Hoops sit nine points clear with nine more league games left to be played. And while it might be way too early to rest on their laurels, one has to admit that Ange Postecoglou’s side are the heavy favourites to go on and win it from here. On the other hand, with the Rangers struggling to catch up, another unexpected transfer idea has been floated.

Scott McTominay is the talk of Scottish football right now. He scored twice for the national team, as they got themselves a famous win over Spain at Hampden Park recently.

Despite his heroics for the Scotland national team, McTominay has struggled to feature in Manchester United’s side though. And naturally, he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

And in the eyes of Craig Moore, a move to Rangers would make sense for McTominay. As reported by the Daily Record, he said while speaking to The Go Radio Football Show:

"“He would be amazing for Rangers.“He has a physicality and a presence. He does the simple things well. He’s not a fancy player but he does the basics very well.“He’s obviously a wonderful professional because you don’t spend that length of time at Manchester United without being a fantastic professional.“I don’t know what Rangers are looking at but to see someone like McTominay and it would only be a loan because that’s the only way a deal would be possible – would be great. But Man United would probably swallow a large part of that bill.“It would make more sense, the loan scenario, being in Scotland and if it was Rangers domestically, Man United don’t want to strengthen their competitors.”"

McTominay to Rangers claim made as they struggle to catch up with Celtic

McTominay has been a regular part of Manchester United for a long time. He was even expected to be a key player for them not too long ago.

Of course, his career at club level has not gone as well as was expected. But even then, one would not think that he would have a tough time getting a move to a Premier League team, if he was to leave Manchester United anytime soon.

On the other hand, it does not feel like Manchester United would be too worried about strengthening teams with McTominay, unless they were direct competitors. Thus, the chances of a move to the Rangers might be slim to none at this stage of his career.
