The recent match between Celtic and Hibernian had ended in a 3-1 win for the Hoops. The visitors had taken the lead on the day but had had a man sent off as well. Ultimately, goals from Jota, Oh Hyeon-gyu and Sead Haksabanovic in the second half were enough to seal victory and the three points for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

On the other hand, Hibernian manager did not sound too happy with some of the decisions from the referee on the day. And it did not stay to just words.

Of course, refereeing is something that Celtic fans have complained about on numerous occasions as well and it is one of the big problems in Scottish football. And the introduction of VAR has not done much in taking care of the issue.

As reported by Football Scotland, contact with the SFA’s head of refereeing was made post-match and Lee Johnson said about the matter:

"“It was Ben Kensell who ended up having more contact in terms of written and verbal communication with the SFA and the head of refereeing and I think it was just a case of me controlling what I could control and concentrating on the players.“I think the starting point is that you feel injustice, and that makes you angry and upset because we’re all passionate about doing well.”"

Of course, you can always expect a manager to have complaints when one of his players gets sent off early in the first half. And while Celtic fans might not agree with a lot of the comments, if it ultimately leads to betterment of refereeing in Scotland, then it would be better for everyone.

Celtic themselves have been on the wrong end of decisions, even after the use of VAR, on multiple occasions this season already. And it is not just limited to them.

Several managers have complained about the refereeing and VAR in Scottish football through the course of the campaign. One thing is pretty clear, and it is that things cannot continue in this manner for long. Some big changes are needed and hopefully they will be made as soon as possible. Let’s see what the future holds.
