This international break has not been kind to Celtic in terms of injuries and fitness issues. Things seem to have been mounting up for Ange Postecoglou’s team lately, and it could not have come at a worse possible time. We are entering the business end of the season and there are two trophies still up for grabs, the Premiership and the Scottish Cup.

One of the players who appeared to suffer an injury scare during the recent international break is Sead Haksabanovic. He was substituted off at half-time in Montenegro national team’s previous game.

Thus, it should not have come as any surprise that Celtic fans were left concerned about Haksabanovic’s situation. He has been impressing immensely in recent weeks, and with both Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada struggling with injury issues, he might have a bigger role to play in upcoming weeks if he remains fit.

It looks like he is though. Haksabanovic started Montenegro’s recent game against Serbia, and played for 77 minutes before being substituted off this time. This is great news for Celtic, as it looks like despite the injury scare, he is fit and ready to feature.

There have been calls for Haksabanovic to be given more playing time in recent weeks. And to be fair to him, he has been very impressive in some of his displays.

The Montenegro international has come off the bench to score a couple of stunning goals in recent games, and it does feel like he might have earned himself a few starts with his efforts.

Haksabanovic had started to establish himself in the starting XI but the World Cup break came at the wrong time for him. But there is no doubt about his quality and let’s see if he is able to win back his place.
