Celtic have been a team in form this season. They have already won the League Cup and are in contention for the two remaining trophies as well. The Hoops are leading the Premiership title race by nine points while they will be taking on the Rangers in the semis of the Scottish Cup. Thus, winning a treble is still a possibility for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

With the kind of football that Celtic have played this season, it should come as no surprise that a number of their players are being linked with moves away from Parkhead. And of course, the Premier League is a popular destination.

One player who has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park for a while is Liel Abada. And recent rumours have suggested that Southampton might be readying a transfer bid in the range of £10 million for him.

Frank McAvennie has sent a blunt message to Abada about leaving Celtic for the Premier League though and does not believe that he is ready to make that move yet. As reported by Football Insider, he said:

"“It is inevitable players move on but he is only a young boy.“He is at a big club and doing well and all of a sudden agents are creeping in.“It is not going to happen, he will not go to any bigger club than Celtic. That is if he even wants to leave. He is only 21, I think Ange is doing well with him.“He was terrible for a couple of games and the manager had every right to leave him out. Then when he brings him back he does well.“I do not think it will bother Ange too much. If he goes somewhere else he will be like another player.“Abada is not ready to go to the Premier League. He is at a huge club, the fans love him and he has got to settle down.“"

Abada was signed by Celtic in the summer of 2021. He has been a key part of the team since then and is a regular contributor.

But at the same time, it is worth pointing out that he has not been able to establish himself as a starter at the club ahead of the likes of Jota and Daizen Maeda on the wings. Instead, he is playing the role of an impact substitute.

Thus, if he was to leave for a Premier League club, there would be a possibility that he could end up getting lost in the shuffle and not getting enough chances to show his worth. And that is the last thing that a 21-year-old player needs.
