Celtic’s injury problems appear to be mounting up at the worst time possible. The club are heading towards the most important part of the campaign, with the Premiership and the Scottish Cup still up for grabs. But it looks like they might potentially be without a number of their key players in the near future.

Reo Hatate picked up an injury and was forced off the pitch in the last game, against Hibernian. Liel Abada has been sent back from international duty due to a fitness issue as well. The likes of Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda are rumoured to be playing through injuries. Aaron Mooy pulled out from the Australian squad recently. And now, it looks like Celtic might have another worry to deal with.

It involves Sead Haksabanovic, who has been impressive in recent appearances. But could he have picked up an issue while away on international duty as well?

As reported by the Daily Record, Haksabanovic sparked injury fears after he was surprisingly taken off at half-time during Montenegro’s win over Bulgaria and manager Miodrag Radulovic said after the final whistle:

"“When everything was put together, we played well, but we have some fatigue and injuries from the match. We have to rest and prepare for Monday’s match with Serbia. The most important thing is that we won.”"

Thus, the situation of Haksabanovic is unclear and one can only hope that the change was a tactical one or precautionary. Of course, if he has indeed picked up an issue, more should emerge on the matter soon enough.

Haksabanovic has been key for Celtic in recent weeks. While not a starter, he has come off the bench and made a big impact, scoring a couple of wonderful goals as a substitute.

Thus, he can expect more regular minutes moving forward if he can remain fit. Especially, with Abada picking up an injury lately, which could keep him out of action for a short while at the very least.
