Celtic are starting to face injury blows at an alarming rate over the past few weeks. These could not have come at a worse time either, as we enter the business end of the season. There are two titles still up for grabs, the Premiership and the Scottish Cup. And with a treble still possible, Ange Postecoglou’s side will surely want to win both.

They are dealing with multiple injury issues at this point of time though. The list of fitness issues is growing quickly. Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor were believed to be playing through injuries. Reo Hatate got injured in the last game before the international break, against Hibernian. Aaron Mooy had to pull out of the Australian squad. The situation of Liel Abada and Sead Haksabanovic is unclear.

Now, another name seems to have been added to that quickly growing list of injury concerns. And that is Anthony Ralston, who was called up to the Scotland national team squad but did not even make the matchday squad in the game against Cyprus.

There seem to have been fitness-related reasons behind that. As reported by Video Celts, Ralston picked up a knock during Friday’s training session and will return for treatment with Celtic.

Ralston has not played regular football for Celtic this season, with Alistair Johnston being the nailed on starter at right-back at the moment. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 12 appearances and played 964 minutes in total.

But the Scottish international is still an important part of the team. He has proven himself at right-back and is capable of coming up with a big moment as well, if the side are in need of it.

Thus, one can only hope that Ralston’s knock is nothing serious and that he is back on the pitch for Celtic as soon as possible.
