Celtic fans are not fond of Steven Gerrard. That would be safe to say, considering the fact that the Englishman spent several years managing the Rangers and was at the helm at Ibrox, when they won the Premiership title in the 2020/21 campaign and stopped 10IAR in the process. He would go on to leave the club for Aston Villa in the middle of last season and currently finds himself without a team.

Now, Gerrard is set to come up against a group of Celtic legends on the pitch. He will be representing Liverpool Legends in a charity match at Anfield this weekend.

About 4,000 Celtic fans are expected to travel to Anfield, in order to take in the event. And as a result, there is a possibility that Gerrard could receive a feisty reception from the away end on the day.

The Liverpool icon has sent a message before facing the Celtic legends at Anfield at the weekend. As reported by Football Scotland, Gerrard said while speaking on Instagram:

"“Morning Reds. I’m really looking forward to this Saturday to play against Celtic in support of the Forever Reds and The LFC Foundation. Hopefully see you all soon.”"

It is safe to say that this has been a highly anticipated charity match. It will be a great chance to see a lot of Celtic legends pull on the Hoops once again.

The likes of Robbie Keane, Stan Petrov, Artur Boruc, Mikael Lustig and several more will be playing on the day for Celtic. And another interesting aspect in all of this will be the reception that Gerrard ends up receiving from the away end. Of course, he remains a hero to the fans at Anfield and forever will be.

At the end of the day, it is worth remembering that this match has been organised for charity, with all the proceeds going to a number of good causes. Thus, it would be best to keep with the aim of the event. Let’s hope that it is a wonderful game.
