Antonio Conte is one of the best managers in world football right now. He has enjoyed a lot of success at Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and with the Italian national team, and currently finds himself in charge of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. And it looks like he had been impressed with one of his players, while he was still at Celtic.

Fraser Forster had a couple of stints at Celtic. And he currently is at Tottenham Hotspur, having completed a surprise move in the summer that not many would have seen coming.

The English goalkeeper has even had a bit of a run in the starting XI. And to be honest, Forster has done a decent job with the opportunities that he has been given, keeping a couple clean sheets in important games.

It looks like Conte has been an admirer of Forster for years though, from back when he was at Juventus and had come up against Celtic in the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Conte makes Celtic claim regarding Forster

As reported by Glasgow Times, Conte said about Forster:

"“I remembered him well from in the Champions League when we played Celtic with Juventus. He impressed me and the way to be a keeper.”"

At 34 years of age, Forster finally finds himself at a top Premier League club. He had spent most of the season warming the bench but has gotten his chance in the starting XI of late and taken it with both hands to his credit.

Of course, Celtic fans would remember that the club wanted to bring him back on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell with the club. But it did not end up happening.

Rumours back then suggested that Forster had decided to stay put at Southampton, and ultimately, it seems to have worked out for him. On the other hand, Celtic had ended up signing Vasilis Barkas that summer from AEK Athens and we all know how that turned out.
