Odsonne Edouard was one of Celtic’s best players during his time at the club, before leaving for Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021. It is safe to say that things have not gone as well there as he would have expected. The Frenchman had made a very bright start in the Premier League but things have faded away quickly.
At this point of time, Edouard finds himself in an interesting position at Crystal Palace. The goals as well as the starts have dried up for him after the World Cup break. And he needs to make an impact soon, if he is to have a long-term future at the club.
Crystal Palace are set to take on Brighton & Hove Albion next. And the two clubs share an unexpected rivalry with each other.
Of course, Edouard will be very used to dealing with the pressure that comes with games of this kind, having represented Celtic against the Rangers on numerous occasions throughout the course of his career.
Edouard makes brilliant Celtic admission
As reported by Glasgow Live, Edouard told Crystal Palace’s official website:
"“That is the pressure. I like this pressure. I had to deal with this pressure at Celtic, but it is good because you give more.”"
Of course, the pressure that comes with being in a Glasgow Derby, is several times more than what Edouard will be feeling when he pulls on the Crystal Palace shirt to take on Brighton & Hove Albion. It remains to be seen if he can deliver or not.
Edouard had a great run at Celtic Park, even though his final season with the club was not a good on. Still, there is no doubt that he is one of the most talented players that Celtic have had in a while and one cannot help but wonder what he could have done under the management of Ange Postecoglou. Unfortunately, it was not to be and he left soon after the Australian’s arrival.
