Celtic and the Rangers have been on very different paths since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. For the Hoops, recruitment has proven to be one of their biggest strengths, as they have brought in one great player after another over the past four transfer windows. On the other hand, for the Ibrox club, that has not been the case. They have made signings as well but the majority of them have not worked out.
On the other hand, the Rangers seem to be struggling to hold onto some of their key players as well. The names of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos fall under that category.
Now, Celtic fans are not too fond of either of those players. But one cannot deny that they have been a big part of the Rangers’ team for many years now. But both of their deals are running out in the summer and they could leave as free agents.
Frank McAvennie does not seem to be a big fan of the situation. As reported by Football Insider, the former Celtic player said:
"“To let Kent’s and Morelos’ contracts run down is nothing short of diabolical. Why would you want to do that? I was sure they would have been out in January.“"
Celtic hero slams Rangers for questionable decision
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kent and Morelos at Ibrox. Till now, they are yet to put pen to paper on contract extensions.
Neither of them has been in top form lately. But still, they have regular appeared in the playing XI. Thus, them walking out as free agents would be a blow for the Rangers for sure.
Of course, Celtic would not be worried about the Rangers at all. They have continued to relentlessly strengthen their squad over the past several transfer windows and if recent rumours are to be believed then they have big plans for this summer as well. Let’s see what the future holds but it does seem pretty bright.
