The Celtic hierarchy must be delighted with the job that Ange Postecoglou has done since joining the club. They took a major risk bringing the Australian in. It is easy to forget now, but back then, it had not been a popular move at all. Many had questioned whether he could succeed at Parkhead, having never even managed a top flight club in Europe before that.
As a result, if things did not work out, a lot of questions would be raised and it would be a bit of a ‘told you so’ moment for many. Fortunately, it did not come to that and Postecoglou has proven to be a grand success.
In fact, he has outdone the expectations of even the most optimistic of fans. Postecoglou has already won three trophies during his tenure at Celtic Park and more could be on the way, with the Hoops leading the league title by nine points and they are in the semi finals of the Scottish Cup as well.
And it looks like there could be even more good news for Postecoglou and company around the corner. If they are able to qualify for the Champions League again.
Celtic could be handed major summer boost
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are set to hand Postecoglou a bolstered summer transfer kitty if he achieves Champions League qualification again. The Scottish giants led by main shareholder Dermot Desmond will grant the manager a big summer kitty if the club are back in Europe’s elite competition next season.
The club deserve major credit for backing Postecoglou in the transfer market as well. They have relentlessly added to their squad over the past four windows.
And they have reaped the reward for it on the pitch. Celtic won a double last season and a treble is still a possibility this time around.
