Celtic and Liverpool have a pretty good relationship to say the least. It is not just an anthem that they have shared over the years. They are two of the biggest and most recognisable clubs in the world and there have been several brilliant players, who have represented both teams to great success.
Both teams have created a lot of history over the decades as well, winning one trophy after another. Along the way, they have also led to a lot of firsts.
Most fans would know that Celtic were the first British team to win the European Cup, back in 1967, under the management of Jock Stein. The Hoops got the better of Inter Milan in the final in Portugal to create footballing history. The Lisbon Lions continue to be celebrated to this day and rightfully so. No other Scottish club has won the trophy since. Thus, it is a very unique achievement to say the least.
During that season, Celtic went on to win every trophy available to them. But a recent tweet from Liverpool appeared to ignore that.
Celtic fans won’t be happy with Liverpool’s recent tweet
As tweeted out by Liverpool, Joe Fagan was the first British manager to win three major titles in one season.
That was not the case though. That achievement belongs to Stein. And any Celtic fan would be happy to remind people of that, as they have been in the comments of that particular tweet.
Of course, Fagan achieved an incredible feat himself, becoming the first manager of an English team to win a treble. In the 1983/84 season, his first as the manager of Liverpool, they won the European Cup, the League Championship and the League Cup.
Thus, it is safe to say that both Stein and Fagan are legendary managers for their respective clubs. And football fans must make sure that their names are not lost in the pages of history.
